Internship Reflection 

The internship was a form of volunteering where I was incorporated into the CODEIS team on various projects. I provided support at CODEIS by seeking funding opportunities for the projects and developing my skills to contribute to the different activities that CODEIS carries out. To put it in more technical terms, my duties at CODEIS were as an assistant and observer of the active projects.
The expectations for my internship involved office hours and participation in events organized by CODEIS. I participated in the trip to Cuenca for the "De Cero a Cien" project, and as a result, I had the opportunity to go on business trips organized by CODEIS when those types of excursions took place. Additionally, it was required of me to complete the daily tasks during the trips, assisting other CODEIS representatives.
On the other hand, CODEIS often has tasks, meetings, event planning, and document compilations that arise occasionally. Consequently, one must stay on top of the new activities day by day. Furthermore, many duties and activities have time limits for completion, and it is necessary to ensure that work is done on them every day. Office activities are usually unexpected and spontaneous, while events are always planned in advance, and the expectations of CODEIS members are well-known.​

Reflexión sobre el Internado

La práctica era una forma de voluntariado donde yo fui incorporado al equipo de CODEIS en diferentes proyectos. Yo daba apoyo en CODEIS buscando oportunidades de financiamiento para los proyectos y desarrollando mis habilidades para aportar en las diferentes actividades que tiene CODEIS. Para definirlo en términos más técnicos, mis deberes en CODEIS eran de asistente y observador de los proyectos activos.

Las expectativas de mi práctica consistían en horarios de oficina y participación a los eventos organizados por CODEIS. Participé en el viaje a Cuenca para el proyecto De Cero a Cien, en consecuencia tuve la posibilidad de ir de viaje de negocios por parte de CODEIS cuando se organizaban esos tipos de excursiones. Adicionalmente, era requerido por mi parte que cumplia las tareas diarias de los viajes, asistiendo a los otros representantes de CODEIS.

Por otro lado, CODEIS muchas veces tiene tareas, reuniones, planificaciones de eventos y compilaciones de varios documentos que surgen de manera eventual. En consecuencia, hay que estar pendiente de las nuevas actividades día a día. Además, muchos deberes y actividades tienen un límite de tiempo para cumplirse y es necesario asegurarse que se trabaje en esos cada día. Las actividades de oficina suelen ser inesperadas y espontáneas, mientras los eventos son siempre organizados anteriormente y se conocen las expectativas de los miembros de CODEIS.    

These are certain trades I have had experience with outside of college. 

Working as a Landscaper

I have had more experience in this trade as I first tried this line of work when the pandemic first hit and later on helping out my stepdad with his new business which also involved landscaping at times. Landscaping might not be as lucrative as moving, but it requires meticulous planning and a clear vision of what the aspect of the final outcome should be. This is most of the time a reductive type of job, so as a landscaper it is crucial to make sure and listen carefully to the homeowners' directions and wishes. Lastly, a landscaper needs to know exactly what to modify and cut in a house yard because a lot of the elements are very hard to return to their original state.

Working as a Mover

I have worked for a moving company during college at my previous institution. This company dealt with helping people move and large scale trash removal. This work experience unrelated to college still gave me significant insights into this trade and provided me with elevated financial opportunity usually occurring during weekends. One business aspect, however, that I can identify in this line of work is with junk removal where the company would keep and store furniture destined to be disposed for future sales.
